Golf is one of the most widely played sports in the world, and is enjoyed by millions. It allows you to get outside and get some fresh air and sun, while playing a game that requires lots of skill and prowess. When you start golfing, you will need some clubs to bring along with you. There are 14 clubs in a true set, but to start off with you only need about half of these. There are three main types of clubs, and these are irons, woods, and putters. By buying the right combination of these, you can be set for an entire game. However, to call them “cheap” would be an utter lie. Golf clubs are very expensive. If you are not sure whether you are going to stick with the sport or not, it is probably a good idea to start with used golf clubs or otherwise cheap golf clubs. Imagine all of the more hardcore golfers, and what their new equipment looks like. They probably replaced some perfectly good clubs just a few months ago in order to get the new and the best clubs. Few people really need this level of commitment to buying the new [...]

While little is left of the sleepy fishing village that Marmaris was just a few decades ago after a construction boom in the 1980s, Marmaris still retains its charm due to the exceptional natural beauty of its location. The town’s population is 28,660 (2000) and is estimated to reach 300,000 – 400,000 people during the tourism season, when the flow of people reaches critical levels. Marmaris’ nightlife rivals anything on the Turkish coast. It is also a major centre for sailing, possessing two major and several smaller marinas. It is a popular wintering location for hundreds of cruising boaters. There are regular ferry services to the [...]

Here are the basics. A golf club has three parts – the head, the shaft and the grip. A standard set of golf clubs consists of three woods (the Driver, #3, and #5 fairway woods), eight irons (#3, #4, #5, #6, #7, #8, #9, and PW), and a putter – that’s twelve clubs in all. According to the rules of golf, and we should all play by the rules, you can carry fourteen clubs in your bag, so many golfers add a specialty wood or another iron. Now, let’s have a look at the different types of clubs. Drivers & Fairway woods These clubs are used to hit longer shots. That’s a basic yet apt way to look at it. If a golf hole is a par four or five from tee to green, most golfers would choose to use a wood. The driver, or the 1 Wood, has the lowest loft of any golf club. Loft is the angle of the club face that controls trajectory and affects distance. A driver has a loft between 7 and 12 degrees. Better golfers have traditionally favored drivers with less than 10 degrees of loft, which require a lot more skill to [...]

When you think of sunshine golf locations Spain and Portugal come to mind, but golf holidays in Turkey are going to be catching them up in 2009. This is in part thanks to the huge investment in the country’s tourism that has seen some splendid courses and hotels pop up in recent years. But it’s not just the golf that makes Turkey a quality holiday..

Marmaris nightlife bars and clubs offers entertainments to every age group on holiday and has many different bars, cafes with disco clubs that you can dance all night long in Marmaris. Also the gap between Marmaris and the resorts of Icmeler is getting smaller all the time, but there is still qualitative difference between two towns, Icmeler has a more sedate cracter, the night clubs tend to close earlier, there is little in the way of budget accommaditation and the typical summer visitoris more likely to be older. Marmaris Well known for its natural beauty, pine clad mountains and a fantastic coastline, full of pretty coves and inlets. A modern town, Marmaris is well able to cater for tourists with plenty of restaurants, cafés, shops and bars with a good nightlife, as well as provision for water sports and sunbathing. Içmeler is surrounded by cool, clear mineral springs, named from the Turkish verb ‘Içmek’ which means ‘to drink’. Set at the foot of the pine-clad Palamut Hills, which encircle the bay, Içmeler offers the best of both worlds; from a beach and pool-style holiday to an excellent range of shops, bars and restaurants. And yet it still hasn’t lost its [...]

Marmaris is as classy as the southern coastal towns get. This is where Those of us with 40m floating sports cars like to keep them in the winter and the amount of money that comes into this town in the season has enabled it to develop with a degree of restraint and taste that has made it the envy of the wannabee marina towns from Izmir to Antalya. It can be a real eye opener to wander around the ‘big’ marina of an evening, lubricated with a couple of beers, and watch the other half at play. For most of us though, Marmaris supplies some great restaurants, good shopping, a variety of nightlife and proximity to some good beaches. It’s also a favourite departure point for Mavi Yol (the blue road) cruises of the undeniably gorgeous Aegean and Mediterranean coasts. Marmaris is also somewhere you have to go through to get to Datca, ah, Datca. You’ll have to hurry to see it before it disappears but more on that below. If you’re already in Turkey Marmaris is well served by the ever dependable inter city bus network and can also be reached by the little coast buses that will bring [...]

Set on the southeast coast of Turkey where the Aegean Sea meets the Mediterranean, the purpose-built beach resort of Icmeler has a distinctly European flavour, with luxury yachts bobbing in the bay and a cosmopolitan crowd of holidaymakers sipping cocktails at the sea-front bars. Its package-holiday aura is, however, tempered by its scenic setting, with steep hills clad in pine forests plunging into the turquoise waters all around the town. Unlike its close neighbour, the bustling resort of Marmaris just a few miles south, Icmeler has a relaxed village atmosphere, while lacking none of the modern amenities. The resort is scrupulously clean and well maintained, from its regularly raked shingly sand beaches to its litter-free promenade. The town is also resplendent with well-kept gardens, which soften the lines of the dozens of hotel and apartment blocks. Having a magnificent beach, Icmeler is primarily a sun, sea and sand holiday destination, and a wide variety of watersports are on offer at the resort hotels and along the sea front. Those who feel inclined to make excursions, however, will find plenty of interest. Favourites are boat trips to ‘Cleopatra’s Isle’, the waterfalls of Pamukkale with their therapeutic spring waters, and the archaeological [...]
